Let’s Give Healthcare Back to the Patient.
Our Philosophy
Imagine buying a toaster on Amazon. You log-on in your pajamas, search for toasters, compare features, look at reviews, and pay the listed price. Simple. Now imagine that you can only log-on when it’s convenient for Amazon. You take the day off work, can only look at the toasters your homeowner’s insurance allows, and you wait an hour before you can even look at them. You think you pick out the right toaster, but the pricing of the toaster is a complete mystery until you get a bill in the mail a month later. Why is seeing a doctor- arguably the most important interaction in your life –harder than getting a toaster?
NeuroNow uses a patient-centered approach as the guiding light through the medical wilderness. We want to clear the path to better, simpler healthcare. NeuroNow aims to provide outstanding neurological care without the hurdles. The ways of modern medicine are over. This is your neurology. Now.
I am a Midwesterner, born and raised in Northeast Indiana. I grew up loving sports. I was driven by teamwork and hard work, striving for success and learning from defeat. I was sure the Indiana Hoosiers would recruit me and the Indiana Pacers would draft me. Some things are not meant to be. I focused my attention on music and band. This was a great move because it guided me to a young choir starlet named Breanna. She let me take her to dinner our senior year in high school and we’ve been together ever since.
I wanted to be a doctor. I was good at science and wanted to help people. It seemed like a natural fit. I went to Wabash College in Crawfordsville, Indiana and then to the Indiana University School of Medicine. In 2012, we moved to Jacksonville for Neurology Residency and Neurocritical Care Fellowship at the Mayo Clinic Florida. I was then hired on as staff at MCF, achieving the goal I set the moment I walked on campus.
So why did I start NeuroNow? I realized that being a doctor is much more than being good at science and wanting to help people. For me the best parts about being a doctor are building relationships with patients and families, and even if I couldn’t cure them, working with them on the best medical decisions. The worst parts were the numerous roadblocks and hurdles getting in our way. So I created NeuroNow to clear out the clutter and simplify patient care. I want to practice medicine the way that I think it should be practiced: with the patient at the core.
My family has grown (sons Jack and Edward, daughter Rita, and our doodle Rocky) and our lives are filled with soccer, gymnastics, basketball, swimming, honeybees, fishing, and enjoying all the outdoor activities that Florida’s First Coast has to offer.
Professionally, I am board certified in General Neurology and Brain Injury Medicine by the ABPN and in Neurocritical Care by both the ABPN and UCNS. I have authored over 30 peer reviewed publications, several book chapters, and have given lectures on various neurological topics at local, regional, and national meetings. You can see a list of my publications here and my CV here. I am available for travel and speaking engagements.
